Book Review: Hope Was Here, Joan Bauer

Hope Was Here, by Joan Bauer is a funny story of a teenage girl, Hope Yancey.
When Hope and her Aunt Addie were duped by the guy whom they work with in a restaurant in New York, they had no choice than to move to a small country side in Wisconsin to work for a local restaurant. Aunt Addie being a professional cook and Hope who has learnt to become an excellent waitress from both her Mum (who is also a waitress) and Aunt Addie.
Hope battled with the 'trauma' of not knowing his father and not being raised by her mother. She had hope that one day she will meet her biological father (whom she believed is a wealthy or popular person). However, Hope soon learn that life is a mirage.

When they got to their new workplace, thing turned around as G.T Stooper, the owner of the restaurant battles with leukemia... Then more even came in when G.T Stopper decided to run for the post of Mayor against the most powerful man in the town...
Hope soon discovered more about herself...

Joan Bauer creates an astonishing, hilarious and educative characters. She is an author with the great skill to embed a lot of things in a single scene...
Bauer shows that there is absolutely nothing that can be achieved through unity. She gave a clear picture of politics of corruption and how it is possible to fight if people find new hope.
Hope Was Here is a Newberry Honour Book.
Bauer has authored many books for teenagers and adults.
