When a boy called Shasta ran away with an horse from a man (whom he initially called father) in order to go to a far northern part of the country which he had always fantasized and curios of what lies beyond. He found out that the horse with which he is running away with can talk – like normal human being. They became best of friends.

The talking horse by name Bree told the boy about his country – Narnia – all the good things and serenity and freedom that lie in that country. Shasta wanted to go there because the man whom he called father, who happened to be a fisherman, never treat him like a son. The poor boy had always wondering whether he was his father – even though his color is very different from that man’s (he had know formal education to reason that the angler cannot naturally be his father). Nevertheless, one day, he found out when a stranger rode an horse to their small cottage and request for some rest from the fisherman. The stranger told the fisherman that he has interest in “buying” his boy… that’s where the little boy learned that he’s not the fisherman’s son.

In his quest to find out about the man who sought to buy him as a slave, he talked to the horse, of course just wishing the horse could talk; but to his utmost surprised, the horse talked to him… Then the adventure began – they planned to “steal each other” and run away to the far land of Narnia.

On their journey, they met another she-horse and a girl with the same mission as theirs – to run away to the land of Narnia! The she-horse, can also talk! Then the adventure continues as the little company faced a lot of challenges and obstacles.

The novel, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Horse and His Boy is the part three of the series The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S Lewis.

When I first saw the title, I asked why is it “The Horse and His Boy” and not “The Boy and his Horse”? I however got answered to my question when I continued reading the novel.

It is an exciting adventurous novel.

I’m moving on to the next part: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
